TARABA HEALTH COLLEGE PROBES ALLEGED REMOVAL OF COMPUTERS, QUERIES STAFF

The management of the Taraba State College of Health Technology, Takum, has opened an investigation into allegations surrounding the removal of computers and other equipment from the institution’s Information and Communication Technology Department.
A five-member disciplinary committee has been constituted to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged removal of the equipment and determine whether any member of staff was involved in wrongdoing.
The action followed reports circulating on social media alleging that computer systems and other gadgets belonging to the college had been removed from the ICT Department.
In a statement issued by the management, the institution said it had initially decided not to respond publicly to the allegations but later considered it necessary to address the matter in the interest of transparency, accountability and public confidence.
As part of the investigation, the college disclosed that Mr. Emmanuel Nahum has been issued a query and given 48 hours to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him in connection with the allegations.
According to the management, the query was issued pursuant to the applicable provisions of the Public Service Rules.
The college, however, cautioned against reaching conclusions before the investigation is completed, stressing that the allegations remain subject to verification by the disciplinary committee.
Management said the committee’s findings and recommendations would determine the next course of action.
It added that any officer eventually found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with existing regulations.
The institution appealed to students, staff and members of the public to allow the investigative process to run its course without prejudicing its outcome.
Management further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the college’s property and maintaining professionalism, discipline, accountability and sound institutional governance.
The outcome of the five-member committee’s investigation is expected to establish whether the equipment was actually removed improperly, the circumstances surrounding its removal and whether any official bears responsibility.
