KEFAS MOVES TO FIX KPAMBO, FIKYU ROADS AS USSA CHAIRMAN REPORTS IMPROVED SECURITY

The Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, Hon. Abershi Musa, has announced that work on the Takum–Kpambo and Fikyu roads is expected to commence after the rainy season as part of Governor Agbu Kefas’ rural road infrastructure drive.

Musa, in a statement issued by the Corporate Communications Unit of the council, said the planned intervention would bring relief to residents and commuters who have endured the deteriorating condition of the roads for years.

According to the chairman, he had facilitated work on the roads during his first tenure as Ussa Council Chairman under the administration of the late Governor Danbaba Suntai.

He expressed concern that the roads subsequently deteriorated, describing their present condition as a major challenge to communities in Kpambo and Fikyu wards.

Giving an update on the Takum–Lissam Road project, Musa said the pace of work had been affected largely by heavy rainfall rather than delays in the release of funds to the contractor.

He expressed confidence that construction would gather momentum at the end of the rainy season, with the project expected to be completed and commissioned by Governor Kefas.

Ussa Records Relative Peace

On security, the council chairman said Ussa Local Government Area had remained peaceful since he assumed office in November 2025, claiming that no farmer-herder clash had been recorded during the period.

Musa attributed the situation to what he described as the proactive security approach of his administration and the support provided by the Kefas administration for security operations in the area.

He also acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, community leaders and residents towards maintaining peace.

According to him, the improved security situation has positively affected agricultural activities, allowing farmers to cultivate and harvest crops with reduced fear of attacks.

He said communities in the local government were already recording increased harvests, particularly in maize and groundnut production.

Musa also criticised some indigenes of Ussa in the diaspora whom he accused of sponsoring young people to attack the government on social media.

He urged such individuals to instead invest resources in initiatives capable of developing young people financially, economically and intellectually.

The chairman called on residents to continue supporting the administration of Governor Kefas, arguing that sustained peace and cooperation would help attract additional development projects to Ussa.
