GOVERNOR KEFAS OPENS 32ND TARABA ANNUAL QUR’ANIC RECITATION COMPETITION
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has declared open the 32nd Annual Taraba State Qur’anic Recitation Competition, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to religious harmony, Islamic education and peaceful coexistence across the state.
Governor Kefas, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Muslim Religious Matters, Alhaji Hussaini Ismail, made the declaration on at the palace of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ishaku Ada Ali Aku-Uka.
Speaking on behalf of the organising committee, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Kabri, commended the governor for his continued support for Qur’anic education and Islamic activities in Taraba State.
Representing the governor, Ismail urged participants to pursue excellence, discipline and dedication in the study and recitation of the Holy Qur’an. He said the administration would continue to promote unity, peace, inclusiveness and people-centred development.
He also appealed to religious leaders, Islamic scholars and members of the Muslim community to support the peaceful and progressive development of the state, particularly as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
Ismail highlighted the administration’s interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment and human capital development, urging citizens to remain united and reject political division and misinformation.
He further called on the people to continue praying for peace, stability and progress in Taraba State.
The event attracted prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Dr. Ishaku Ada Ali Aku-Uka; His Royal Highness Dr. Stephen Gara of Donga; the Emir of Ibbi, Alhaji Salihu Danbawuro; the Emir of Bali, Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Kurjibu; the Emir of Gassol, Alhaji Idris Yakubu; the Executive Chairman of Wukari; and the Executive Chairman of Donga, Ali Yahaya, among others.
The 32nd Annual Taraba State Qur’anic Recitation Competition is expected to further strengthen Qur’anic learning, discipline, moral values and peaceful coexistence among residents of the state.
