2027: Taraba APC Moves to Reconcile Aggrieved Members Amid Governorship Primary Dispute
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has commenced a fresh reconciliation process aimed at resolving lingering disagreements among members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The move comes amid continued grievances surrounding the party’s governorship primary and growing concerns that unresolved internal differences could weaken the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
The reconciliation initiative is expected to bring together aggrieved members and competing interests within the party in an effort to rebuild confidence, strengthen unity and reposition the APC ahead of the 2027 political contest.
A major issue that continues to attract attention within the party is the grievance associated with supporters of former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, over the outcome and conduct of the governorship primary.
Sambo, however, has remained in the APC despite the disagreements and recently dismissed speculation that he was planning to defect from the party.
His continued membership has placed renewed pressure on the state and national leadership of the APC to find a political solution to the grievances and prevent the dispute from affecting the party’s preparations for 2027.
The reconciliation effort also gained momentum following the recent visit of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to Taraba State, where he met with party stakeholders and engaged members of the party.
Speaking on the development, Taraba APC Publicity Secretary, Aaron Artimas, said the party was committed to resolving its internal differences and ensuring that members work together ahead of the elections.
Artimas disclosed that reconciliation committees had been inaugurated across the three senatorial zones of the state to engage members who feel aggrieved and provide an avenue for dialogue.
He urged members with complaints to take advantage of the reconciliation process, stressing that unity would be critical to the party’s ability to compete effectively in 2027.
According to him, the objective is to ensure that the APC enters the 2027 elections as a united political family rather than allowing internal disagreements to undermine its electoral prospects.
The success of the reconciliation initiative is expected to be closely watched as the APC seeks to close ranks, resolve outstanding grievances and strengthen its structures across Taraba ahead of the 2027 governorship and other elections.
