The campaign of Senator Shu’aibu Isa Lau for the 2027 general elections is recording renewed engagements in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, with several groups and political stakeholders declaring support for his re-election bid.
Among those reported to have expressed support for the senator are the eleven ward councillors in Karim Lamido, the Traders Association, Wurkum Women Patriotic for Good Governance, the Member Representing Karim One Loyalist Group, stakeholders from Gagare and Ajiya, including members of the Karimjo community, as well as members of the Transport Union.
The groups, according to the campaign team, made their positions known during a series of consultations and engagements as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development represents a notable shift in the political activities surrounding Senator Lau’s campaign in Karim Lamido, an area where his campaign had previously faced challenges in gaining wider acceptance.
A key figure being credited by the campaign with helping to expand its activities in the local government is Alhaji Umar Abba Sale, popularly known as Alhaji Uba, the Karim Lamido Local Government Coordinator of Senator Lau’s campaign team.
Since assuming the coordination role, Alhaji Uba has reportedly led consultations with political stakeholders, community groups and other interest groups, while highlighting projects and programmes attributed to Senator Lau’s tenure in the National Assembly.
The campaign team says these engagements have focused on the senator’s reported contributions in areas including human capital development, physical projects and infrastructure.
Alhaji Uba is a long-time participant in the political affairs of Karim Lamido. He currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Agbu Kefas on Livestock Breeding. He previously contested for the chairmanship of Karim Lamido Local Government Area under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and has also served as chairman of the Traders Association and chairman of the 24 Associations for the Karim Lamido Reforms.
The recent consultations have continued to generate political activity in the local government, with supporters of Senator Lau presenting the various endorsements as evidence of growing acceptance of his re-election campaign.
However, the significance of the latest alignments will ultimately be determined by developments within the various political parties and the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
With the election season approaching, further consultations, meetings and political realignments are expected across Karim Lamido and other parts of Taraba North Senatorial District.
