The wife of the Taraba State Governor, Mrs. Agbu Kefas, has urged pregnant women and nursing mothers to prioritise antenatal care and routine immunisation to safeguard the health and wellbeing of mothers and children.
The Governor’s wife made the call during the “Mama Ambassador for Healthy Mind, Healthy Body, Healthy Life” advocacy campaign on maternal and child healthcare and routine immunisation, organised by the wife of the Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Mrs. Mercy Bala Useni.
The event was held at the Wapan Nghaku Primary Healthcare Centre, Wukari.
Represented at the occasion by Mrs. Patient Danlami, the Governor’s wife urged pregnant women to visit healthcare facilities immediately after confirming their pregnancy and to attend antenatal clinics regularly.
She also stressed the importance of routine immunisation, noting that immunising children against preventable diseases would help protect them and contribute to their wellbeing as they grow.
The Governor’s wife encouraged mothers to take advantage of available healthcare services and ensure that their children receive all recommended vaccinations at the appropriate time.
Earlier in her remarks, the wife of the Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Mrs. Mercy Bala Useni, said the Governor’s wife remained passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children across the state.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Governor’s wife to ensuring that every mother and child has access to quality healthcare services.
Mrs. Useni also appreciated the Taraba State Government and other stakeholders for their support towards improving maternal and child healthcare in the state.
The event featured goodwill messages from the representative of the Governor’s mother and other stakeholders, who commended the organisers for the initiative and called for sustained advocacy on maternal and child health.
Pads, wrappers and other delivery items were also presented to beneficiaries during the occasion.
