JALINGO — Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Babangida S.M. Nguroje, OFR, has been officially recognised and honoured by the World Tongilmoodo Federation as Global Protector and Patron for his contributions to peacebuilding, security, youth empowerment, humanitarian service and the promotion of martial arts.
The recognition, according to the federation, was in appreciation of Nguroje’s commitment to initiatives aimed at promoting peace, discipline, youth development and a safer society.
The World Tongilmoodo Federation said his emergence as Global Protector and Patron reflects his longstanding support for programmes that advance the welfare of young people and vulnerable members of society, while encouraging peaceful coexistence and community development.
The federation noted that martial arts, beyond physical training and self-defence, can serve as a tool for promoting discipline, confidence, responsible citizenship and peaceful interaction among young people.
Nguroje’s recognition also highlights the importance of combining youth empowerment with peace and security initiatives, particularly at a time when young people across communities require constructive platforms through which they can develop their skills and contribute positively to society.
As Global Protector and Patron, Nguroje is expected to support the federation’s efforts to promote Tongilmoodo and other related initiatives, particularly those focused on youth development, discipline, peacebuilding and humanitarian service.
The former Deputy Speaker has also been associated with public service and community-oriented initiatives, with his supporters describing the latest honour as a recognition of his commitment to causes that promote human development and social stability.
The federation’s decision to honour him is expected to further strengthen collaboration between public figures, youth-focused organisations and martial arts institutions in promoting peaceful communities and empowering young people.
