Women from Taraba State’s Southern Senatorial Zone have endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The women made their position known at an endorsement event in Wukari, where participants from across the Southern Zone gathered to express their support for the political leaders.
Speaking at the event, the convener, Mrs. Patience Laminde Danjuma, said the decision was based on what the women described as the performance of the Kefas and Tinubu administrations in delivering democratic dividends.
Danjuma said women across the zone had resolved to publicly identify with Kefas, Tinubu and other APC candidates, adding that they would take the message to communities at the grassroots.
She said the mobilisation would involve engaging people across the zone on the reasons for the women’s decision.
Representing Governor Kefas at the event, the Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Bala Useni, emphasised the role of women in political mobilisation and development.
Kefas urged the women to remain supportive of the administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
He also challenged them to take their advocacy to the grassroots and educate residents on what he described as the importance of continuity in governance.
Other stakeholders at the event included the member representing Wukari I State Constituency, Josiah Angye; the Chairman of Donga Local Government Council; a representative of the APC State Chairman; the APC State Women Leader; the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; and a representative of members of the National Assembly.
The stakeholders commended the women for their decision, with speakers attributing their support for Governor Kefas to what they described as his performance in office.
The event also featured a women empowerment session, including a paper presentation on strategies for managing businesses and personal finances.
The programme later culminated in a rally through major streets in Wukari, with the women displaying solidarity with Kefas, Tinubu and other APC candidates.
The rally provided a public platform for the women to restate their political position as activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue across Taraba State.
