2027: Kuteb Voting Bloc Draws Attention as Bwacha, Danji SS Attend Abuja Gathering
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum in Taraba State, the Kuteb voting bloc is increasingly drawing attention following the presence of two prominent governorship contenders at a major Kuteb gathering in Abuja.
Senator Emmanuel Bwacha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Hon. Danjuma Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, were among dignitaries who attended the maiden Kuteb Yatso Renaissance Banquet held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
The event, organised in connection with the inauguration of the newly elected National Executives of the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, KYN, brought together Kuteb leaders, professionals, traditional stakeholders and other prominent personalities from within and outside Taraba State.
The presence of Bwacha and Shiddi attracted political attention as Taraba moves gradually towards another governorship contest in 2027.
The Kuteb constitute an important political constituency, particularly in Southern Taraba, with communities extending beyond Taraba into neighbouring states. Their numerical strength and concentration in strategic areas make the community increasingly important in political calculations ahead of the election.
However, the gathering was primarily focused on strengthening unity, promoting Kuteb cultural identity and supporting the new leadership of KYN.
Stakeholders at the banquet congratulated the newly elected executives and called for greater unity and cooperation among Kuteb people at home and in the diaspora.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for leaders to reflect on issues affecting the community and the need for collective action towards peace, development and stronger representation.
With the 2027 political season gradually taking shape, the appearance of leading governorship contenders at the gathering further underlines the growing importance of community and ethnic voting blocs in the emerging political calculations across Taraba State.
For the Kuteb, issues of development, political inclusion, representation and longstanding concerns surrounding the traditional institution in Takum are likely to remain important considerations as political parties and candidates intensify engagements ahead of 2027.
As the governorship race develops, attention will increasingly be on how the major candidates engage the Kuteb community and other strategic voting blocs across Taraba State.
