ACReSAL concludes capacity building workshop for local government management committees in Taraba

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has concluded a Capacity Building Workshop for Local Government Management Committees in Taraba State.

The three-day workshop, held at The Shield Hotel, Jalingo, commenced on Wednesday and brought together participants from various local government areas of the state.

The workshop was organised to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to promote climate change resilience, environmental sustainability and the activities of ACReSAL within their respective communities.
During the programme, facilitators took participants through various topics, including the “Roles and Responsibilities of Community Revolving Fund Management Committee (CRFMC), Community Business Agents (CBA) and Board of Trustees (BoT),” among other areas designed to broaden their understanding and enhance their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

Speaking at the workshop, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Abbas Ibrahim Kaigama, charged participants to take the knowledge acquired back to their communities and actively contribute to efforts aimed at promoting a healthy and sustainable environment.

“There are the people closer to the community and ACReSAL is a community based project. Their role is to take the message back to their community that this is what ACReSAL is doing. ACReSAL is here to tackle the challenges bedevelling the communities.” He stated.

Also speaking, one of the participants, who spoke on behalf of people living with disabilities, commended ACReSAL for its programmes and pledged to put the knowledge gained during the workshop into practice in their respective communities.

“It is our heart desire that the knowledge received from this forum will also be transmitted into practical aspect. We are so much glad that the ACReSAL recognises the people with special needs. We are not left behind. Our ideas are not thrown to the trash bin” He mentioned.

The participant expressed optimism that the inclusion of people living with disabilities in ACReSAL programmes would provide an opportunity for them to contribute their ideas and play an active role in addressing environmental and climate-related challenges in their communities.
