TARABA SGS RECEIVES NEW CP, DEMANDS TIGHTER SECURITY AT STATE’S BORDERS
The Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, Esq., has urged the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Edwin Ogbegbagha, to prioritise border security as part of efforts to strengthen peace and protect lives and property across the state.
Kataps made the call when the new Commissioner of Police paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Jalingo on Tuesday.
Ogbegbagha was accompanied on the visit by the outgoing Commissioner of Police, CP Moorkwap Dongshal.
The SGS said the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas had committed significant resources towards improving security and sustaining peace across Taraba.
He noted that Taraba’s location and international boundary make effective policing of border communities particularly important in preventing criminal activities and the movement of criminal elements.
“As you assume duty in Taraba, I urge you to give special attention to our border areas. The security of our borders is critical to the peace and stability of the state, and we expect the Police Command to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to safeguard our people,” Kataps said.
The SGS also disclosed that Ogbegbagha would be formally introduced to Governor Kefas during the forthcoming State Security Council meeting.
Responding, the new police commissioner pledged to work closely with the state government, other security agencies, traditional institutions and communities to strengthen security across Taraba.
“I am here to serve the people of Taraba State, and I will work collaboratively with the government and other stakeholders to strengthen security, maintain peace and ensure that residents can go about their lawful activities without fear,” Ogbegbagha said.
CP Ogbegbagha recently assumed duty as the 34th Commissioner of Police in charge of the Taraba State Police Command following his deployment to the state by the Police Service Commission.
