KEFAS SETS UP FIVE-MAN COMMITTEE TO MONITOR ROAD PROJECTS ACROSS TARABA

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has constituted a five-member committee to monitor ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The committee was announced in a statement issued in Jalingo by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief Timothy Gebon Kataps.

According to the statement, the committee is mandated to inspect and monitor road projects across the state to ensure that contractors comply with approved standards, specifications and timelines.

The development comes amid growing public concerns over the condition of some road projects, including allegations of abandoned works, damage caused by rainfall, inadequate drainage and the use of substandard materials in some locations.

The committee is also expected to assess the level of progress and quality of ongoing projects and identify areas requiring urgent government intervention.

The move is seen as part of efforts by the Kefas administration to strengthen supervision and accountability in infrastructure development and ensure that public funds committed to road projects deliver value to residents.

However, attention will now be on the effectiveness of the committee, particularly whether its monitoring activities will lead to timely correction of identified defects and ensure that contractors adhere strictly to approved specifications.
