TARABA LG RETIREES ENDORSE KEFAS, TINUBU FOR SECOND TERM
The Association of Retired Local Government Civil Servants in Taraba State has declared support for Governor Agbu Kefas and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second terms in office, citing improvements in pensioners’ welfare and ongoing development initiatives.
Chairman of the Association in Bali Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullaman Musa, announced the endorsement while speaking with journalists in Jalingo on Friday.
Musa said the implementation of the minimum-wage pension for local government retirees, which commenced in June 2026, had significantly improved the welfare of pensioners and restored confidence among serving local government workers approaching retirement.
According to him, the ongoing processing of gratuities and improved pension payments would also discourage workers from falsifying their ages or years of service because of fears about life after retirement.
> “With this development, no local government worker will hesitate to retire when due. Now that our gratuity is being processed and our pension is reasonable, people will be happy to retire,” he said.
The retirees said their support for Governor Kefas was also informed by what they described as progress in other sectors, including road construction, renovation of general hospitals, and the state government’s free and compulsory education programme.
Musa said pensioners were prepared to reciprocate the administration’s attention to their welfare at the polls in 2027.
The Association also endorsed President Tinubu for another term, arguing that reforms introduced by the Federal Government had created an environment that enabled states, including Taraba, to implement development programmes.
“We have not seen it this good in Taraba. As local government retirees, our pension was approved at the minimum-wage level. We are all happy. We want the governor and president to continue in 2027,” Musa said.
