The commitment of the Taraba State Government to strengthening the capacity of its workforce received another boost as officials sponsored by Gov Agbu Kefas successfully completed a specialised Leadership, Administrative and Political Advisers Training Course at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.
The training, which convened members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, 16 LGA Chairmen, Permanent Secretaries, members of Taraba State independent Electoral Commission, members of Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, political advisers among others, formed part of Gov Kefas’ deliberate approach to building a more knowledgeable, effective and responsive public service.
At the graduation ceremony, which featured the presentation of certificates and an interactive session, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Jeji Williams, commended Governor Kefas for consistently prioritising the welfare and professional development of government officials. He described the investment in capacity building as an important component of effective governance, while also appreciating the participants, directors and facilitators for their commitment and unified coordination throughout the programme.
The participants, in turn, expressed appreciation to Governor Kefas for creating the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and strengthen their capacity to serve the state.
Dr. Rikwensi Muri, one of the participants, described the programme as beneficial and deserving of commendation, noting the value of the knowledge acquired.
Linda Gwana also expressed satisfaction with the quality of the programme, the learning environment and the knowledge gained, describing the experience as unprecedented.
As the beneficiaries return to their respective offices, the expectation is that the knowledge acquired will not remain within the walls of the training centre, but will be translated into better advice, improved administration, stronger coordination and more effective service to the people of Taraba State.
