FG Hands Over Muhammadu Buhari Housing Estate to Taraba Government

The Federal Government has formally handed over the Muhammadu Buhari Housing Estate in Jalingo to the Taraba State Government, marking a major development in the ownership and administration of the housing facility.
The formal handover took place at the Executive Council Chambers in Jalingo, with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, representing the Federal Government.
The development effectively transfers responsibility for the estate to the Taraba State Government, opening a new chapter in the management and utilisation of the facility.
The handover is particularly significant following recent developments surrounding the estate and the establishment of the 10 Division of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo.
The Taraba State Government had recently identified the Muhammadu Buhari Housing Estate among facilities being considered to provide temporary accommodation and operational support for personnel of the newly established Army Division pending the development of its permanent facilities.
The estate was among facilities inspected by officials of the state government and the pioneer General Officer Commanding the 10 Division following his arrival in Jalingo.
The Federal Government’s decision to formally hand over the estate to Taraba is therefore expected to give the state greater administrative control over the facility and determine how it will be deployed in line with its housing, security and other development priorities.
The handover also comes at a time when the Federal Government is pursuing wider housing reforms and partnerships with state governments and private investors to expand access to housing across the country.
Darma has repeatedly stated that the Federal Government is committed to working with states and credible investors to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and increase access to decent and affordable accommodation.
