JALINGO — The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting development initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across Taraba State.
The Taraba State Coordinator of the Commission, Mallam Adamu M. Lawan, stated this on Thursday when he received the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, Hon. Dantsoho, who paid a courtesy visit to the NEDC office in Jalingo.
During the visit, Hon. Dantsoho commended the NEDC for its various development interventions in Jalingo and other parts of Taraba State, describing the projects as beneficial to residents and communities.
He particularly highlighted the Commission’s installation of solar-powered streetlights and solar-powered boreholes, noting that the interventions had provided tangible benefits to communities where they were implemented.
The council chairman expressed appreciation to the NEDC for its continued efforts to address some of the infrastructure and development needs of residents in the state.
Responding, Mallam Lawan thanked Hon. Dantsoho and his delegation for the visit and for recognising the Commission’s interventions across Taraba.
He explained that NEDC’s projects and programmes are being implemented in line with its statutory mandate and the North East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan (NESDMP), which provides a framework for sustainable development and reconstruction across the region.
Lawan assured the council chairman that the Commission would continue to support development initiatives capable of improving the socio-economic well-being of residents and strengthening communities across Taraba State.
He also emphasised the importance of collaboration with local government authorities and other stakeholders in identifying development priorities and ensuring that interventions have meaningful impact on beneficiaries.
The NEDC State Coordinator expressed appreciation to Hon. Dantsoho and his delegation for the courtesy visit, describing the engagement as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the Commission and the Jalingo Local Government Council.
The visit ended with renewed assurances of continued partnership towards addressing development needs and improving infrastructure across Jalingo and other communities in Taraba State.
