Sanitation Workers in Sunkani Allegedly Unpaid Since January, Authorities Yet to Respond
Concerns have emerged over the alleged non-payment of sanitation workers in Sunkani, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State, with claims that some of the workers have not received their salaries since January 2026.
The allegation, which surfaced through a social media post and was subsequently reported by Jalingo Times, has raised questions about the welfare of sanitation personnel responsible for maintaining environmental cleanliness in the area.
According to the report, the affected workers are attached to the Sunkani sanitation branch and have allegedly gone several months without payment.
The concern is coming amid the Taraba State Government’s continued emphasis on environmental sanitation and efforts to improve cleanliness across communities in the state.
The social media post questioned whether the affected workers had been excluded from the government’s payroll, particularly given the importance attached to sanitation by the administration.

As of the time of the original report, neither the Taraba State Government nor the relevant sanitation authorities had publicly responded to the allegation.
