Sarah Bulus, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Lau Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, has received endorsements from youths, women and elders in Lau Local Government Area as the party intensifies its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship and legislative elections.
The development followed a series of campaign engagements in the area as the campaign team of APGA governorship candidate Danjuma Usman Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, took its mobilisation drive to Lau.
The engagements provided an opportunity for the candidates and party leaders to interact directly with residents, community leaders and other stakeholders, while presenting their respective political aspirations and seeking support ahead of the elections.
At Mayo Lope, where Sarah Bulus officially kicked off her campaign, she was received by APGA supporters, party leaders, family members, friends and well-wishers who gathered to demonstrate their support for her candidacy.
The campaign also featured engagements with traditional institutions, with Bulus and members of her team paying a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Sanwi Chiefdom, His Royal Highness Haniel Banti.
During the visit, Bulus expressed appreciation to the traditional ruler for receiving her and her entourage, saying the purpose of the visit was to seek his blessings as she begins her campaign across Lau Constituency.
> “We have come to seek for your blessings. You’re the first traditional ruler we are visiting. When we eventually get elected, we hope to move the Yandang and people of Lau to a greater height,” she said.
Bulus said her campaign would focus on engaging directly with the people and listening to their concerns, while promising to support initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing and development of the constituency.
Responding, HRH Haniel Banti commended Bulus and her team for recognising the role of traditional institutions and visiting the palace at the beginning of the campaign.
The traditional ruler described Bulus as his daughter and encouraged her to maintain the values and activities for which she had received recognition from members of the community.
> “Sarah is my daughter. Those good works and good things you have been doing and people are applauding and noticing, continue to improve and do them,” he said.
Also speaking during the engagement, Danji SS explained that the visit was not only to seek the traditional ruler’s blessings but also to establish a relationship with the traditional institution and gain a better understanding of the concerns and aspirations of the people of Lau.
The campaign team subsequently engaged youths, women and elders, where supporters expressed their backing for Bulus and the APGA governorship candidate.
The endorsements form part of a broader grassroots mobilisation effort by APGA as political parties and candidates step up consultations across Taraba’s 16 local government areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
For Bulus, the Lau campaign marks the beginning of a wider constituency-level engagement involving traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women, elders and other stakeholders.
The campaign team is expected to continue its consultations and community engagements in the coming days as APGA seeks to strengthen its presence at the grassroots and communicate its message to voters across Lau and other parts of Taraba State.
