JALINGO — Social media influencer, Imam Abudmumuni, has alleged that 15 Permanent Secretary positions in the Taraba State Civil Service have remained vacant for close to a year without substantive appointments.
Abudmumuni, in a post on his social media platforms, claimed that the prolonged vacancies were affecting the career progression of senior civil servants, with some reportedly retiring without attaining the pinnacle of their careers.
He alleged that Taraba State, which previously had nearly 30 Permanent Secretary positions, now has more than half of the positions without substantive occupants due to retirements and deaths.
The positions he identified as allegedly vacant include Career Services, Manpower Development, HASS, Political, Abuja Liaison Office, Tertiary Education, Works and Housing, Civil Service Commission, Energy and Economic Development, Water Resources, Health, Waste Management, Poverty Alleviation, State Pension Board and Protocol Department.
The influencer also questioned the role of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Taraba State Council, in advocating for affected civil servants.
He argued that senior public servants who had spent decades in government service should have the opportunity to progress to the highest levels of their careers.
Abudmumuni called for urgent attention to the reported vacancies, stressing that the civil service deserved effective leadership, career progression and fairness.
The allegations have not been independently verified, while the Taraba State Government and the NLC, Taraba State Council, have yet to publicly respond to the claims.
