Taraba APC Chairman’s Wife Empowers 50 Widows With Start-Up Support
JALINGO — The wife of the Taraba State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajiya Amina Abubakar Bawa, has empowered 50 widows in the state with start-up support aimed at helping them establish small-scale businesses and achieve financial independence.
The empowerment programme was held at the Fast Track Arena, where each beneficiary received a start-up package, cash support to commence trading and wrappers as a gesture of solidarity and encouragement.
Speaking during the event, Hajiya Amina said the initiative was designed to support widows in becoming self-reliant while providing them with opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
She said the gesture was also intended to complement the efforts of the wife of the Taraba State Governor, Mrs. Agbu Kefas, whom she described as the “mother of the state” and a role model in promoting the welfare of women and families.
According to her, supporting vulnerable women remains an important responsibility of leaders, particularly within the political community.
She further linked the initiative to the APC’s Renewed Hope agenda, as well as the efforts of her husband, the state APC chairman, to advance the party’s programmes and strengthen its grassroots structures.
Hajiya Amina also urged party members and supporters to remain committed to the APC, stressing that the party’s leadership had a responsibility to work towards securing victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
She said women would remain central to the party’s mobilisation and grassroots engagement ahead of the elections.
The event was attended by several APC women leaders, including the State APC Woman Leader, Hon. Princess Margret; Deputy Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs. Rose; zonal women leaders; local government women leaders, as well as other party stakeholders from across Taraba State.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, with the event characterised by prayers, gratitude and renewed optimism among the women.
The organisers said the initiative was part of broader efforts to provide vulnerable women with economic opportunities and strengthen their capacity for self-sufficiency.
