Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has commended a group of artisans from the state who distinguished themselves at recent national competitions, describing their achievements as a source of pride to Taraba.
The artisans, who were led by the National President of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Hon. Daniel Abimbola Kolade, were received on behalf of the governor by the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State (SGS), Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, Esq.
Chief Kataps congratulated the artisans on their outstanding performances and urged them to remain committed to improving their skills and professionalism.
He said the state government places a high premium on youth development and empowerment, noting that the Kefas administration established the Taraba State Youth Development Agency to coordinate programmes aimed at improving the welfare, skills and economic prospects of young people.
According to him, the government has invested substantial resources in youth empowerment programmes designed to provide young people with the skills and opportunities required to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
The SGS encouraged the artisans to register with the Youth Development Agency database, explaining that such registration would enable them to benefit from relevant government programmes, interventions and opportunities designed to strengthen their careers and expand their businesses.
He assured them of the state government’s continued support for young people who demonstrate commitment to developing their talents and pursuing their chosen professions.
Earlier, Hon. Kolade said the Nigerian Institute of Building was committed to mobilising young Nigerians engaged in artisanal trades and encouraging greater participation in the building and construction sector.
He explained that the artisans presented to the state government had distinguished themselves through their performances at recent national competitions.
Kolade subsequently presented the award-winning artisans to the Secretary to the Government for recognition and appreciation.
The recognition highlights the growing importance of technical skills, vocational training and youth empowerment in driving economic development and creating sustainable livelihoods in Taraba State.
