ACReSAL COMMENCES THREE-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES IN TARABA

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has commenced a three-day capacity-building workshop for Local Government Management Committees in Taraba State.

The workshop, being held at The Shield Hotel in Jalingo, is designed to equip participants with practical skills, knowledge and hands-on experience in environmental sustainability and resilience-building.

Speaking at the commencement of the programme, the Project Coordinator of ACReSAL in Taraba State, Dr. Yakubu Giwa Clement, said the training was aimed at strengthening the capacity of participants to effectively support and advance the activities of the project across the state.

“When we work together, we will build our capacity together. We will be able to strengthen ACReSAL in Taraba State. Before now, we were a lagging state but with your cooperation, we have moved forward with the slogan of His Excellency. We have moved forward and we are impacting lives in the nooks and crannies of Taraba State.” He stated.

Dr. Giwa explained that the workshop would provide participants with the knowledge required to deepen the impact of ACReSAL interventions at the grassroots, particularly in addressing environmental and climate-related challenges confronting communities.

He expressed confidence that participants would be transformed by the end of the three-day programme, urging them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to address environmental challenges in their respective communities.

The Project Coordinator also stressed the importance of taking the lessons from the workshop beyond the training venue, noting that the ultimate objective was to ensure that communities benefit from improved environmental management and sustainable practices.

The three-day workshop brings together members of Local Government Management Committees to enhance their understanding of environmental sustainability and strengthen their ability to contribute effectively to the implementation of ACReSAL activities across Taraba State.
