The Taraba State Government, under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas, has activated flood evacuation and relocation plans across flood-prone and riverine communities in the state.
The move follows flood predictions by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), prompting the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) to commence a statewide sensitisation campaign in vulnerable communities.
TSEMA has identified and mapped high grounds and safe zones to serve as temporary relocation camps for residents who may be affected by flooding.
Public Advisory
Residents are advised to:
1. Heed early warnings and cooperate with TSEMA officials and community leaders.
2. Clear drainages and avoid building on waterways.
3. Be prepared to relocate to designated safe areas when necessary.
4. Prioritise the safety of children, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
5. Rely only on verified information from TSEMA and the Taraba State Government.
The state government said it remains committed to proactive measures aimed at protecting lives and property across Taraba.
