JALINGO — The Late Isma’ila Maihanchi Political Forum has endorsed Barrister Bilyaminu Lukman Maihanchi as its preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in the 2027 General Election.
The endorsement, according to the forum, is based on its conviction that Barr. Bilyaminu Lukman Maihanchi possesses the capacity, experience and commitment required to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation to the people of Jalingo, Yorro and Zing.
The forum said its decision was informed by the need for continuity in effective representation, stronger grassroots participation and leadership that remains responsive to the concerns and aspirations of constituents.
It described the endorsement as more than a political declaration, saying it represents a renewed commitment to promoting justice, accountability, inclusiveness and people-centred leadership across the federal constituency.
According to the forum, the three local government areas that make up the constituency deserve a representative who will maintain a strong connection with the grassroots and ensure that the interests of ordinary citizens are adequately presented at the National Assembly.
The group stressed that effective representation should go beyond political campaigns and election periods, arguing that elected representatives must remain accessible to their constituents and be prepared to champion issues affecting education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development, employment, agriculture and economic empowerment.
The forum also called on political stakeholders, community leaders, youths, women and other constituents across Jalingo, Yorro and Zing to support a leadership process that prioritises unity, fairness and development.
It expressed confidence that the candidacy of Barr. Bilyaminu Lukman Maihanchi would provide an opportunity for the people of the constituency to strengthen grassroots representation and promote a more inclusive approach to legislative leadership.
The endorsement further underscores the forum’s desire to preserve the political legacy associated with the late Isma’ila Maihanchi, while encouraging a new generation of leadership committed to service and accountability.
The forum therefore urged its members and supporters across the three local government areas to mobilise peacefully and actively participate in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
It maintained that the ultimate objective should be to secure representation that is accessible to the people, responsive to their needs and capable of attracting meaningful development to Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency.
The forum concluded by formally throwing its weight behind Barr. Bilyaminu Lukman Maihanchi and called on all stakeholders within the constituency to unite around the pursuit of purposeful, accountable and people-oriented representation in the 2027 General Election.
