TIRS MOVES HAULAGE REVENUE COLLECTION DIGITAL, TRAINS PERSONNEL ON JRB SYSTEM
Officials undergo two-day training on digital collection, enforcement, road safety and accountability

The Taraba State Internal Revenue Service, TIRS, has commenced moves to standardise and digitise the collection of haulage revenue across the state, with personnel undergoing specialised training on the Joint Revenue Board, JRB, system.
The two-day training, held at the Dr. Agbu Kefas Conference Hall at TIRS headquarters in Jalingo, brought together State Consultant Compliance Officers, SCCOs, and enforcement personnel involved in the Consolidated Haulage Levy, CHL.

The programme was designed to equip participants with the technical knowledge required to operate digital devices and implement collection procedures in accordance with JRB standards.
i4cus Nigeria Limited facilitated the training.
Speaking at the opening session, TIRS Executive Director and Board Member, Theophilus K. Japheth, said the initiative was part of efforts to improve professionalism, accountability and compliance in haulage revenue administration.
Japheth warned personnel against compromising established procedures in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing the need to operate within approved standards.
Another Executive Director and Board Member, Magai B. Agyo, said the JRB policy was intended to harmonise haulage levy collection and promote greater transparency and accountability in the revenue system.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of i4cus Nigeria Limited, Joy Abama, also urged participants to demonstrate integrity and professionalism while carrying out their duties.

The training covered several aspects of haulage revenue administration, including digital operations, road safety, traffic management, security and intelligence, and safe field enforcement.
Participants also underwent practical and interactive sessions aimed at preparing them for the use of the new digital collection procedures in the field.
The initiative is expected to reduce reliance on manual processes, strengthen accountability and improve monitoring of haulage revenue collection in Taraba State.
The latest development forms part of ongoing efforts by TIRS to deploy technology in revenue administration and establish a more transparent and standardised system for the collection of government revenues.
