JALINGO — The newly established Nigerian Army 10 Division has taken another step towards full operationalisation in Taraba State following the arrival of its pioneer General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General C.R. Nnebeife, in Jalingo.
Major General Nnebeife paid a formal visit to the Taraba State Government, where he was received on behalf of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps Ngwii, Esq.
The visit is seen as an important development in the establishment and operational take-off of the new Army Division, which is expected to strengthen security coordination and military response across Taraba and neighbouring areas.
Speaking during the visit, the SSG reaffirmed the commitment of the Taraba State Government to providing the necessary cooperation and support required to facilitate the effective take-off and operations of the Division.
Chief Ngwii also reiterated Governor Kefas’ commitment to strengthening collaboration between the state government, the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the collective effort to maintain peace and security across Taraba State.
He stressed the importance of sustained cooperation among security stakeholders in addressing emerging security challenges and creating a safer environment for residents and businesses.
In his response, Major General Nnebeife expressed appreciation to Governor Kefas and the Taraba State Government for the warm reception accorded him and his team.
The pioneer GOC also commended the governor’s efforts towards improving security in the state and assured the government of the Division’s readiness to work closely with relevant stakeholders and other security agencies.
As part of the visit, the SSG led the GOC on an inspection tour of facilities being considered for use by the new Division.
The inspection included the General Muhammadu Buhari Housing Estate, the FERMA building along Wukari Road, and the permanent site designated for the 10 Division.
The establishment of the Nigerian Army 10 Division in Jalingo is expected to enhance military presence, strengthen inter-agency security coordination and improve the capacity of security forces to respond effectively to emerging threats in Taraba and surrounding areas.
The development is being viewed as a significant milestone in the state’s security architecture and a potential boost to efforts aimed at sustaining peace and creating a more secure environment for economic and social development.
The Taraba State Government and the Nigerian Army have pledged continued cooperation towards ensuring that the new Division achieves its operational objectives.
