Insecurity: Ibi Chairman Takes Security Surveillance to Remote Communities
The Chairman of Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Hon. Emmanuel Ubandoma, has embarked on a security surveillance tour of remote communities in the council area as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities.
Ubandoma undertook the tour on Monday, August 24, 2026, reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance stance against insecurity and other activities capable of threatening the peace of communities in the local government area.
The council chairman said the exercise was aimed at assessing the security situation at the grassroots and reaching communities located away from the major towns.
During the tour, Ubandoma interacted with residents and urged communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious movements and activities.
He stressed that maintaining peace and security requires cooperation between government, security agencies, traditional institutions and residents, particularly communities in remote areas where criminal elements may attempt to establish hideouts.
The chairman also assured residents that his administration would continue to support measures aimed at protecting lives and property across Ibi Local Government Area.
The security tour comes amid continuing efforts by security agencies and local authorities to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities around the Ibi axis.
Ibi has recently attracted increased security attention following incidents of kidnapping and subsequent military operations in which kidnapped victims were rescued.
Ubandoma maintained that his administration would not provide room for criminals to operate freely within the local government and called on residents to remain vigilant.
The council is expected to continue working with conventional security agencies and community structures to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve security surveillance, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
The development forms part of broader efforts to prevent criminal groups from exploiting remote settlements and difficult terrain as operational bases.
