Kefas Care Takes Free Medical, Surgical Services to Gassol Residents
GASSOL, August 26, 2026 — The Taraba State Government has commenced a five-day free medical and surgical outreach in Gassol Local Government Area under its Kefas Care healthcare initiative.
The outreach was flagged off on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Health, Hon. Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma (MBBS, FWACS), JP, as part of efforts by the administration of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare across the state.
Under the programme, residents are expected to benefit from free medical consultations, health screenings, treatment and surgical services, with particular attention to people who may be unable to access adequate healthcare because of financial or geographical challenges.
The Gassol exercise forms part of the statewide rollout of Kefas Care across Taraba’s 16 Local Government Areas, taking medical personnel and essential healthcare services directly to communities.
Speaking at the flag-off, Dr. Buma urged residents of Gassol and neighbouring communities to take advantage of the five-day exercise and present themselves for examination and treatment.
He said the outreach reflects the state government’s determination to reduce barriers to healthcare and ensure that residents, irrespective of their economic circumstances or location, can access essential medical services.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting the Kefas administration’s healthcare agenda, stressing that improving access to affordable and quality medical services remains central to building a healthier population.
The government said the Kefas Care initiative would continue to reach communities across the state as part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and bring essential services closer to the people.
