OMEGA RICHARD EMERGES MISS TOURISM AFRICA-NIGERIA, TO REPRESENT NIGERIA IN KENYA
…Taraba-born beauty queen secures continental ticket at Miss Tourism Nigeria 2026
Taraba State has recorded another achievement on the national tourism stage as its representative, Omega Richard, emerged Miss Tourism Africa-Nigeria at the grand finale of the Miss Tourism Nigeria 2026 pageant in Lagos.
The title qualifies Richard to represent Nigeria at the Miss Tourism Africa pageant in Kenya later this year, where she is expected to compete alongside representatives from other African countries.
The grand finale, held on Saturday at Skyview, Lekki Coliseum, Lagos, saw the representative of Abia State emerge Miss Tourism Nigeria, while the Lagos State delegate was named Miss Cosmo.
Richard, who entered the competition seeking the main Miss Tourism Nigeria crown, eventually emerged with the Miss Tourism Africa-Nigeria title, securing Nigeria’s ticket to the continental competition in Kenya.
Taraba State Government officials were also present at the event to support the state’s representative.
The delegation was led by the Commissioner for Heritage and Ecotourism, Dr. Joseph Titus Nagombe, alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Hon. Mrs. Mary Manzo. They attended the grand finale on behalf of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas.
Delivering the Governor’s goodwill message at the event, Nagombe described Richard’s emergence as another opportunity to project Taraba’s tourism potential and cultural heritage beyond the state.
He reiterated the Kefas administration’s commitment to positioning tourism and culture as important drivers of economic development, youth empowerment and national integration.
The Commissioner congratulated Richard and described her as a worthy ambassador of Taraba, popularly known as the “Land of Nature.”
Nagombe encouraged her to remain focused as she prepares to represent Nigeria on the continental stage, noting that the experience gained from the national competition would be valuable as she takes on the next challenge.
Richard’s emergence is expected to provide another platform for showcasing Taraba’s tourism attractions, culture and natural heritage while she carries Nigeria’s flag at the Miss Tourism Africa competition in Kenya.
Her participation in the continental pageant will also place a Taraba representative on an international tourism and cultural platform, as contestants from across Africa gather to promote their countries’ tourism potential and cultural identities.
