Taraba PDP Chair Urges Youths to Take Charge of Nigeria’s Democratic Future
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, Hon. Ibrahim Abba Sale, has urged Nigerian youths to become more actively involved in the country’s political and electoral processes as a way of tackling voter apathy and deepening democratic governance.
Abba Sale made the call during a programme organised to commemorate the 26th Youth Day, with the theme: “How Youth Political Participation Will Curb Voter Apathy in Nigeria.”
Speaking as the host party chairman at the event, the PDP leader said young Nigerians constitute a critical force in determining the future of democracy, noting that their participation should go beyond social media conversations and political debates.
He encouraged youths to obtain their voter cards, turn out during elections, engage with political leaders and demand accountability from elected representatives.
According to him, an active and informed youth population can play a major role in reducing voter apathy while ensuring that elected officials remain responsive to the needs of the people.
Abba Sale also warned against the use of violence, ethnic or religious divisions and self-serving interests in politics. He maintained that political engagement should be driven by the desire to improve society, promote development and create opportunities for citizens.
He called on young people to embrace peaceful and responsible participation, stressing that their collective involvement could significantly influence the political direction of Nigeria.
“When youths participate, democracy becomes stronger. When we vote, we shape our future,” he said.
The Taraba PDP chairman further expressed appreciation to guests, political leaders, party members and other participants for attending the programme, while wishing the organisers and participants a successful and impactful event.
