TIV COMMUNITY CELEBRATES GARA DONGA, HAILS HIM AS BRIDGE-BUILDER
• Says monarch’s reign has strengthened peace, unity among Donga’s ethnic groups
• Urges traditional ruler to sustain dialogue, inclusive development
The Tiv community of Ugondo Mdema in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State has felicitated with the Gara Donga, His Royal Majesty, Ambassador Sanvala Varzoa Shimbura Gargbanyi II, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a courageous leader and bridge-builder committed to peaceful coexistence.
In a birthday message signed by the leader of Ugondo Mdema in Diaspora and Atakpa U Tiv, Taraba, Chief Dr. John Tor-Agbidye, the community praised the traditional ruler for what it described as his wisdom, humility, maturity and leadership since ascending the throne.
Tor-Agbidye said the monarch’s efforts at restoring peace, encouraging dialogue and building stronger relationships among the diverse ethnic groups in Donga had earned him the respect of the people.
According to him, the traditional ruler’s willingness to collaborate with the Taraba State Government and Donga Local Government Council in promoting peace and development has also contributed to stability in the area.
He said the appreciation of the monarch’s leadership extended beyond Ugondo Mdema, maintaining that Tiv communities across Donga recognise his efforts towards building a more peaceful and united chiefdom.
“The Tiv people across Donga proudly recognise and appreciate your leadership. This appreciation goes far beyond Ugondo Mdema,” Tor-Agbidye said.
He added that the monarch’s reign had renewed confidence among residents in the possibility of building a united, peaceful and progressive Donga irrespective of ethnic or cultural differences.
The community, however, urged the Gara Donga to sustain and deepen his peace-building initiatives by continuing to promote dialogue, peaceful coexistence and inclusive development.
Tor-Agbidye prayed for long life, sound health, greater wisdom and strength for the monarch, expressing hope that his reign would continue to be characterised by peace, unity, prosperity and meaningful development in Donga.
