The Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management (TSBPCM) has engaged peacebuilding organisations and other key stakeholders as part of preparations for the 2026 United Nations International Day of Peace celebration.
The engagement, which brought together Peace NGOs and relevant stakeholders, focused on strengthening collaboration, coordination and collective action among organisations working to promote peace across Taraba State.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman urged Peace NGOs and other stakeholders to actively participate in the activities lined up for the celebration, stressing that peacebuilding requires the collective commitment and contribution of individuals, organisations and communities.
He reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with civil society organisations, community-based groups, development partners and other relevant stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence, dialogue, conflict prevention and sustainable peace in the state.
The Chairman noted that the engagement was also an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange ideas, strengthen existing partnerships and identify practical approaches towards making the 2026 International Day of Peace celebration a meaningful platform for promoting unity, tolerance, reconciliation and peacebuilding.
He called for greater cooperation among peace actors in the state, emphasising the need for sustained efforts to build a culture of dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
The United Nations International Day of Peace is observed annually on September 21 and provides an opportunity to promote the ideals of peace, non-violence and peaceful coexistence.
The TSBPCM said it would continue to work with relevant stakeholders towards building a safer, united and peaceful Taraba State.
