TSU HOLDS 10TH–13TH COMBINED CONVOCATION LECTURE, SPOTLIGHTS AI, INNOVATION
Taraba State University, Jalingo, has held its 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Combined Convocation Lecture as part of activities marking the institution’s historic combined convocation ceremony.
The event attracted prominent personalities from the academic and public sectors, including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako; Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Amb. Idris A. D. Waziri, CON; members of the Governing Council and University Management; Senate members; Vice-Chancellors from various universities; Provosts; academics; staff, students and other invited guests.
The lecture was chaired by Prof. Maxwell M. Gidado, OON, SAN, Professor of Constitutional Law and Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Council of Adamawa State University, Mubi.
Welcoming guests, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, academics and other stakeholders for attending the landmark event.
He particularly acknowledged the presence of a former Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, while commending academics and stakeholders whose contributions have continued to support the growth and development of the institution.
Prof. Bako described Taraba State University as a fast-growing institution, noting that the expansion of its academic programmes, infrastructure and institutional capacity, alongside progress in accreditation, has continued to strengthen the University’s profile and attract students from within and outside Taraba State.
CONVOCATION LECTURE SPOTLIGHTS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
A major focus of the lecture was the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, innovation and entrepreneurship in shaping the future of universities, the economy and society.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, was represented at the occasion.
Discussions examined the opportunities presented by emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, while stressing the need for universities to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation in preparing graduates for an increasingly technology-driven world.
The lecture also provided a platform for scholars, university administrators, researchers and students from different institutions to exchange ideas on the future of higher education and the role of technology in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Speakers underscored the importance of stronger collaboration among universities, government, industry and technology institutions in promoting research, innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of practical solutions to national challenges.
The event formed a major part of activities marking Taraba State University’s 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Combined Convocation, a significant milestone in the history and development of the institution.
