Taraba Govt Distributes Food, Relief Materials to Displaced Families in Ibi

The Taraba State Government has distributed food items and other essential materials to internally displaced persons taking refuge in Ibi Local Government Area as part of efforts to cushion the hardship facing families affected by displacement.
The intervention, carried out through the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), targeted the immediate humanitarian needs of vulnerable families and communities.
Items distributed included rice, beans, garri, maize, salt, spaghetti, seasoning cubes, tomato paste and vegetable oil.
Other materials provided were blankets, mats, mosquito nets and brocade to assist the displaced families with some of their basic household needs.
Executive Secretary of TSEMA, Dr. Echuseh Audu, said the intervention demonstrated the state government’s commitment to ensuring that displaced persons were not abandoned during difficult periods.
Represented at the distribution exercise by Mr. Kitchener Marcel, Audu assured the beneficiaries that the government would continue to give attention to the welfare of vulnerable citizens.
She said humanitarian assistance remained an important component of the government’s response to communities and families affected by emergencies and displacement.
According to her, TSEMA would continue working with local government authorities, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to identify the needs of displaced persons and provide necessary interventions across Taraba State.
The Executive Chairman of Ibi Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Joshua Ubandoma, alongside community leaders and other stakeholders, witnessed the distribution exercise.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Laraba Musa thanked Governor Agbu Kefas and TSEMA for responding to the needs of the displaced families.
She said the intervention would provide some relief to beneficiaries who have been struggling to meet their basic needs following their displacement.
The latest intervention comes amid continuing concerns over the humanitarian consequences of displacement in some communities in Taraba State and the need for sustained support for affected families.
Beyond emergency distribution of food and household materials, the situation also underscores the importance of finding lasting solutions that would enable displaced families to safely return to their communities and rebuild their livelihoods.
